Minecrafters at Nerdtacular

For those of you that don’t know, Nerdtacular is a gathering of the Frogpants community here in Utah. People have come from all over the world to gather and meet people from the community. Today there will be panels, podcasts, entertainment etc. You can learn more of it at http://nerdtacular.com . Yesterday quite a few people got together to hang out before the event. I wanted to meet some of our Minecraft community so TobyTobey and I went up to the hotel where a lot of people are staying and we hung out. We meet up with Christian. Who came all the way from Sweden with his GF and Brothers. We also met Sandi and her husband Gotrek. And of course we ran into most of the Frogpants podcasters. Here are a few pictures from last night. I hope to have more later. In the Pictures below we have TobyTobey and myself, Sandi and GoTrek And then Cris and his crew.

One Year Ago: Alpha Railway

This is a cart ride I recorded exactly a year ago (6/09/11) on the Final Score server. I thought I’d post this as a glimpse into the past (the first significant video I recorded on the server). I built most of this rail system shown here and all of the redstone stations in the video. Everything else is built by other players on the server. At this point the server was nearly 5 months old, and still vanilla. As our only world at the time, it wouldn’t be named “Alpha” until many months later.

Update: In it’s current state with current guineas, it may be too difficult. So would you as people who are going to try the challenge rather have a nerf in jumps or more checkpoints (without seeing what I’m talking about)?

Pit Frenzy Tournament

Let the games begin!

You can go to the arenas by using the command /pitfrenzy 1 or 2. (WARNING: This clears your inventory!) Anyone can spectate the matches by using the command /watchpitfrenzy 1 or 2. (This leaves your inventory intact. Use /watchpitfrenzy exit to go back to the Stargate.)

PRIZES

These apply to both Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket match wins.

  • COIN ROUND: 100 coins (will be used in the future for fun things)
  • IRON ROUND: 64 Iron Ingots
  • GOLD ROUND: 64 Gold Ingots
  • DIAMOND ROUND: 64 Diamonds
  • GRAND FINALS: Choice of one game from the following: Portal 2, Sanctum, Shoot Many Robots, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, and The Ship. This prize requires a Steam account. The following players are ineligible for this prize: CoderJ, Scottyd_Utah. If these players win, the grand prize will be given to the runner-up.
