MemberI ended up watching a full match of this, and I can see what they’re doing. However, they have dedicated a whole server and all its plugins to this gamemode. It’s nearly impossible to recreate without a lot of effort. Instead, it’s designed to attract players to the server. That’s fine, but it means we can’t do it here.

MemberI ended up watching a full match of this. The most interesting part about it was the things to discover on the map. But that means each map is a one-shot, making it a lot of work each time. It did have people flying around taunting the players, which I guess gave spectators something to do, but it made the gameplay even more chaotic. Not sure if there’s something valuable there. I didn’t glean anything else interesting from the gameplay.

MemberOne functionality thing I’ve noticed that I miss is highlighted threads for new posts. Hm.. Any other things you miss from other forums?

MemberThat’s exactly what was discussed above, Jesusrapper. I’ve watched a video of a guy having great fun with his friends climbing up a single pillar with ladders on the side… for hours. (King of the Ladder) That same guy played a few games of what people are calling “Hunger Games” (like in that video) and he said it was too boring to post. MORE BORING THAN A LADDER.
You don’t have to dig to hole yourself in, though it makes it much easier.
The thing that really bugs me about this idea (besides the broken gameplay) is that it’s a very simple old concept that people keep wanting to label Hunger Games for no good reason other than there’s a movie. It’s like suggesting we play LOTR: one side is gondor and the other side is the orcs… and we shoot each other with arrows… go! We can do so much better without restricting ourselves to that intellectual property.

MemberThat lot will mostly have things that stay for the whole week, afaik.

MemberI understand the reasoning, but I just don’t think it’s better ENOUGH to warrant the extra Stargates. I try not to overcomplicate or crowd.
I haven’t talked about this in a while, but there’s a reason I chose physical shops over a command accessible shop system, a much speedier method of trading. It’s so we have a virtual space for our market where we can walk around and find materials we need. I wanted to keep it close enough to the game as possible. Too much teleportation robs us of that sense of space, which is why I brought in Stargates, which keeps it somewhat immersive while not wasting too much of our time traveling for those extra few blocks that keep that project from being done. Virtual currency robs us of item persistence, and the world that helps facilitate. I try and keep all the non-persistent inconsistent things over in the Custom mini-game world.

MemberEvery one of those places have Stargates already because they’re in cities. So it’d be redundant to city networks, imo.
PseudoKnight
MemberIf that can be done client side, is there a client mod that exists already that does it?

MemberYou asked me about the guy’s buildings before you built almost right over them, lol. I don’t understand how if you’re so concerned about building over people that you keep building towards people instead of away from them.
PseudoKnight
MemberThat would be the goal, but it’d probably have to be an event still. I don’t know if we want a permanent hardcore world.
PseudoKnight
MemberIt should be known that I will not build the city over anyone’s creations regioned or not. I will stay a reasonable distance away from said creations and I will only build over areas in which nothing is built on the surface.
You’ve already built over someone’s region. Heh.

MemberI think it should “re-roll” when it’s above your level, and that’s it.
Note, you can already improve the time efficiency of the enchanting table with sticky pistons on the bookshelves.

MemberHow would you make this fun? Just spawn zombies randomly around a city and hope they make things interesting instead of just forcing people indoors? I could turn hard mode on so they could break down doors, but then people would die of starvation randomly. If I used ghasts and creepers, then we’d actually have something to fight for, but that also means real consequences…. and it’d still be better to run or hide.
I have a couple ideas on how to make some mob battles interesting, but I’ve never cracked this ‘defend the city’ game mode.

MemberIt’s something that sounds cool in story, but the limitations of mobs makes it less interesting in practice. There’s a couple plugins that try to do things like this with only marginal success using pretty hackish methods that aren’t really ‘gameable.’
PseudoKnight
MemberShank, that’s what I suggested above you.
Also, live map can be configured in a few ways to hide players or hide a world.
