I don’t know where else to post these types of things, so I’ll do it here.
For a long time we restricted the main group, the one everyone starts in, from using destructive tools like TNT, lighters, and lava buckets. I removed the lava bucket and TNT restriction a few months ago, and so far it hasn’t been a problem. Flint & tinder is a lot more destructive for the amount of effort, though, making it a choice tool for the drive-by griefer. Not only that, but it’s dangerous for new or careless players to use since we don’t restrict fire spread in general. However, two things were bugging me: TNT and nether portals. I never wanted to restrict those uses of the lighter. So today I wrote my own “blacklist” script for the flint & tinder instead of using WorldGuard’s. My script allows the use of lighters on TNT and in the creation of nether portals for all players, but still restricts its use elsewhere.
Do you have any more irritating restrictions that you’d like me to work on improving?
Color me impressed. Those were the only things I regularly helped people in the Everyone group with, so I can’t think of any more restrictions causing issues.
Great improvement. I think this is a good balance between regular blacklists and your own.
You should consider opening this up for use on other servers, you’ve done some great work on scripts.
TNT was easy, portal was a little trickier because I couldn’t let you just fire up any obsidian. So what I did was check a tick later if there’s portal. If not, I set it to air. Most of the time blacklists are really simple when it comes to interactions and block breaks or placements. I haven’t done fire charges yet, as that is even more challenging. However, they’re no where near as useful.
