    I’ve been away for a while and wanted to get back into some multiplayer minecraft, but for some reason I keep getting an error message…

    FAILED TO LOGIN: JAVA.NET.CONNECTEXCEPTION:CONNECTION TIMED OUT:

    now, I’ve been to the Mojang forums and they were pretty useless. they had a thread for this exact problem started in 2012 and last reply was may 1st, and no one from Mojang chimed in. I’ve tried all the suggestions in the thread except backing up to a previous build of the game. My Java is up to date, all drivers are up to date, etc.

    I’ve tried everything I can think of with no success. I can play single player just fine, but can’t contact any servers.

    any ideas?

    Sorry for the wait, if you have not been answered by now. Try downgrading to a previous build, the server is running on (1.7.2-1.7.5.) So this may be why you are getting that message, at least for our server that is.

    There’s currently no benefits to updating to 1.7.9, so I’m waiting on mod support before making the switch. (which is soon, apparently) I wish the error was more helpful.
