Hey guys,
I’ve created a new game recently called Frogpants Showdown. Its a free for all with tons of classes to play as! Right now its in early alpha, and we are currently taking feedback and suggestions for the game. Please leave comments on things that should be tweaked and fixed.
Thanks,
Frog.June 4, 2014 at 6:23 pm #4520MnbvcMemberA suggestion for the Wizard class: An Ice Staff that shoots snowballs. When the snowballs hit someone, it gives them slowness temporarily.

June 4, 2014 at 7:20 pm #4522PseudoKnightMemberDo NOT suggest balance changes at this stage. I already know a lot of the issues there, and while I want to make the alpha gameplay fun, there’s too many elements missing from the classes/games to fully balance it at the moment. Only when it becomes beta can we talk about balance properly.
Ice and fire staffs for the wizard is a decent idea. Gives him flexibility. I’d prefer it over potions.
June 10, 2014 at 12:54 pm #4525king_of_insanityMemberI have an idea for a Slenderman class:
Bombs that inflict blindness and slowness on targets
Limited teleporting, either with a timer or an item
Some kind of damage item or strength
Epic sound effectsThe Dragon does not feel like a dragon. It feels like a weak fire mage. A dragon is tanky and destructive, while this class is more of a fireball sniper. It could gain a max health boost or absorption effect. It needs a more spammable attack than its current small fireballs. I suggest spewing the fireballs in a cone for a short distance. It could just have claws or some melee attack instead.
June 13, 2014 at 12:38 pm #4526PseudoKnightMemberThe dragon was in progress when you commented. (no longer has the small fireballs, uses flame breath, and can fly) If I went with the typical description of a dragon the class would be far too powerful. I had to limit it in some way, so I made it fire breath limited in range and it’s flight limited in duration. It has a little more armor than other classes, such that it’s the second most armored class behind the robot.
We’ll not be using the “slenderman” name, but those abilities are planned for other classes.
June 23, 2014 at 5:15 pm #4548froggeroohMemberI believe we are going to incorperate a blindness item into either the ninja or witch doctor. We’ve discussed it.
June 29, 2014 at 7:17 am #4595_CanadianWizard_MemberI was thinking the Dragon class could maybe start off with more of things now. I get that there are lilypads to power up and get more stuff and i also get that before when dragons had a stack of things they were like super powerful and easy to play. But now it’s harder for me to play dragon. I understand your reasons and I’m with it. But all i request is that dragon starts with a little more of things.

July 6, 2014 at 7:02 pm #4615GothemMemberA Cricket class! It would jump high and far, hit someone with knock back, and it’s special “ability/weapon” would be to chirp, it would be like nausea and a short wither affect combined. I always thought what it would be like playing this class sooo there! 😀

September 13, 2014 at 11:30 am #4713GothemMemberOk, that cricket thing was stupid… lol… but i think most of us can agree that when you die first with a lot of people, you get kinda bored as spectator. Thats why i think spectators should be able to place a lilypad wherever they want. But there could also be fake lilypads that spectators can drop rarely that give the player maybe slowness? I just think spectators should be able to do something else then just “spectate” makes it kinda unique ya know?
September 13, 2014 at 11:41 pm #4719PseudoKnightMemberThat’s a personal preference issue. I remember hearing many complaints about no respawning in CounterStrike. Some people can’t be bothered to sit still for a bit. Others, like me, enjoy the break — discussion and community. The go-go-go nature of constant respawns is too much… everything blends together and time becomes your enemy. In fact, I’ve been considering ways to make other games have a better pacing with short breaths between the action.
The real problem you’re talking about is matches that drag on too long because people keep running and/or hiding. I’ve addressed some of that, but obviously people are really good at delaying games and I’m always considering new ways of alleviating that.
Anyway, we’ve also considered spectator influence game types. Showdown is not such a game type. It just doesn’t fit.
